Terms of use

Sobat lets you add a trip, see other travellers on the same route around the same dates, and say hello. If you both agree, you can message inside Sobat and arrange to keep an eye out for each other at the airport.

Sobat is not a care service, a medical service, an escort or assistance booking, or a substitute for airline special assistance. We do not employ, supervise, accompany, or take responsibility for anyone you meet through Sobat. Booking, boarding and the journey itself remain entirely between the traveller and their airline.

• You must be 18 or over to hold an account.
• Give real information. Adding a traveller who does not exist, or a trip that is not real, makes Sobat worse for everyone.
• Keep your sign-in to yourself. If you think someone else has access, use Sign out everywhere in My Profile and tell us.
• You may add family members as travellers, but only where you are genuinely arranging their travel and they are content for you to do so.

Sobat is for travel. Using it for anything else is not allowed:

• No romantic or sexual approaches. Sobat is not that kind of app.
• No selling, recruiting, fundraising, or asking anyone for money.
• No harassment, abuse, or messages targeting anyone's health, age, ability, religion, caste, race, or gender.
• No asking another traveller to carry an item, a package or a bag for you. This one matters — it is illegal in most airports and it puts both of you at risk.
• No sharing of anything you learn about another traveller outside Sobat.

You can hide anyone at any time, block an account outright, or report a person from their card or from your conversation. We read every report. We may suspend or remove an account that breaks these rules, and we can do so without notice where someone's safety is at stake.

If you agree to meet at an airport, use your own judgement as you would with any stranger. Meet in public areas, keep your own documents and medication with you, and tell someone at home your plan. Sobat does not run background checks, and a Sobat account is not a vouch for anybody's character.

The Safety Card is a tool you fill in yourself. You are responsible for what it says and for keeping it accurate. Sobat does not provide medical advice, and the card is not a medical record — it is a page for someone helping you in an emergency. Anyone holding the printed card can scan the QR code, so only include what you would want read aloud by a stranger who is trying to help.

We work hard to keep Sobat running and honest, but we provide it as it is. We cannot promise that someone will be on your route, that a hello will be answered, that a traveller will do what they said they would, or that the service will never be unavailable.

To the fullest extent the law allows, Sobat is not liable for what happens between travellers, for missed flights or connections, for anything arising from a journey arranged through Sobat, or for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here removes rights you have that cannot legally be removed.

Trips, notes, messages and cards you add stay yours. You give us permission to store and display them where Sobat needs to — showing your route to a matching traveller, or delivering a message you sent. Nothing more.

You can stop using Sobat whenever you like and ask us to delete your account by writing to hello@mysobat.com. We may close an account that breaks these rules or puts other travellers at risk.

If we change these terms in a way that affects you, we will update the date at the top and let you know by email. Carrying on using Sobat afterwards means you accept the new version.
